Silent Prayer
Jeongin Kim

“I was torn between understanding my father and denying him, then I was ultimately consumed with piercing rage. I was too small and feeble to discern my father’s life. When the day came to burn all of his belongings and say goodbye to the father I once knew, the sorrow I coldly ignored finally surged into my reality. Becoming a monk and wearing the ash colored outfit meant wiping away his name from this world.” _From artist’s note

The book ‘Silent Prayer’ begins with the artist's special loss. After the absence of her father, who left his family to become a Buddhist monk, the artist faced a time of silence to explore love and spiritual sensations and heal relationships. For the next five years, she held a camera and recorded scenery and objects in a simple and transparent way. The artist reconfirmed the existence of the subject in the process of mixing and linking the images again and discovered the key to healing the past and present, and connecting this to the future. This book embodies this work in a metaphorical sequence that conveys the inspiration of human suffering and recovery.
