Publish Your Photography Book
Darius D. Himes & Mary Virginia Swanson

“A photobook is a space that visually conveys stories that words cannot fully express, a cinematic sequence composed of scattered moments in a poetic rhythm. Creating a photobook is like building a house for the soul, holding the unseen processes of various senses and thoughts.” _Sangyon Joo

The first book to demystify the process of producing and publishing a book of photographs, “Publish Your Photography Book” was originally released in 2011 and subsequently sold out two editions. Datz Press, through an exclusive contract with Radius Books, presents the Korean translation. This guidebook will be highly beneficial to those who dream of encountering a broader world through photography.

Now more than ever, for both aspiring artists and established professional photographers, the question is, “How should I publish a book of my photographs?” This book leads the reader through a detailed exploration of precisely that question. It is presented in eight sections that aim to position the reader in a historical context; present the choice of traditional versus independent publishing; give a thorough understanding of the nuts and bolts of photography book publishing; outline the steps of making, marketing, and selling your book; delineate the major issues around rare and collectible photography books; and provide a broad sampling of discussions and interviews with published photographers of all ranks and influence.

Photographs can be disseminated in many ways, but the book has lasting appeal and lasting accessibility. This volume aims to speak to and engage anyone who has ever wished to see a book of their photographs out in the world.
