A Conversation with the World

Over the course of 30 years, Lonnie Graham has carried out ‘A Conversation with the World’ in more than 50 different countries in six continents. He interviews the people he meets concerning eight subjects—origins, family, life, death, values, tradition, connections and western culture—and photographs them. ‘A Conversation with the World’ is a simple question and answer exchange between the photographer and interviewees chosen at random. From a template of eight questions, interviewees voice their responses from their own distinctive cultural standpoint. From culture to culture, the responses are the same, outlining the same basic human needs.

His project is published in the form of a book for the first time by Datz Press. This book contains the images and stories of all the people he has met throughout the world.

The publication includes a main book with a series of portraits, and a secondary book that lists their answers to each question.
