“As the shadow passed through me and away from me, my ego diminished and I could experience the cosmos; ‘I’ wasn’t there. I finally understood what presence was. You have to get out of the way; you become the cosmos. It experiences itself through your form.”
_Bryant Austin, from text by Anne Veh
For two decades, Bryant Austin documented the interplay between the sun, water, and the eye, which he calls the ‘window to the soul’, of whales and dolphins. While capturing the alignment of the sun and moon in Yosemite National Park, he experienced his ego diminish and the cosmos exist by itself. Bryant also trains with his breath to achieve a state of wakeful awareness underwater; in a place of silence, reverence and detachment, where he connects with the whales. Through this book, sun, water, being, these three elements coalesce and unite to the vastness of the cosmos in a deep and profound connection.
For manifesting deep and various tones of Bryant’s works, the book was printed in the pentatone b&w print. This is published as a normal edition of 300 copies and a special edition of 20 copies that comes with an original print in a wooden frame like box.
