Bryant Austin
“In those moments, I’m rendered speechless, filled with awe. Whatever feeling is evoked, the common thread is ultimately one of a deep and profound connection to the vastness of the cosmos.” _Bryant Austin
For two decades, Bryant Austin documented the interplay between the sun, water, and the eye, which he calls the ‘window to the soul’, of whales and dolphins. While capturing the alignment of the sun and moon in Yosemite National Park, he experienced his ego diminish and the cosmos exist by itself. Bryant also trains with his breath to achieve a state of wakeful awareness underwater; in a place of silence, reverence and detachment, where he connects with the whales. Bryant’s exploration with the sun, water and being is a discipline of listening and fine tuning. Through this book, sun, water, being, these three elements coalesce and unite to the vastness of the cosmos in a deep and profound connection.
For manifesting deep and various tones of Bryant’s works, the book was printed in pentatone b&w prints. It is published in a special edition of 20 copies with an original print in a wooden frame-like box.
