TYPE LIBRARY
Hyunmee Kim

‘TYPE LIBRARY’ catalogues the Roman alphabet typefaces that Hyunmee Kim uses often, along with those that she wanted to study further. Since the invention of metal type and typography in the 15th century in Germany, the history of typefaces has also evolved, along with the changes in the history of music, art and architecture. A typeface is the product of its time and culture, a fused creation of an individual who breathed that particular time and space. When a typographer chooses a typeface to work with, she or he is actually working with the history embedded within the typeface. To effectively accentuate the informational hierarchy and structure, a typeface family consists of varying weights, angle, and proportions. In this book, she has selected a font most representative of the original typeface in thickness and proportion. This book is intended for anyone who is interested in the many beautiful forms of Roman alphabet typefaces and the stories behind them. At the end of the book, the typefaces and their history is explaine d in Korean and English. The book was produced in a limited edition of 50 copies with two different covers.
